It illustrates the numerous opportunities offered by new ICTs to enrich the learning experience, and explores their application in the CH field in detail.

Understanding requirements, general design issues and efficient design in the cultural heritage field.

M4: 3D technology for CH communication

3D Modelling techniques for static (tangible: objects, buildings) and dynamic (intangible: animated virtual objects, humans) virtual cultural heritage. Simulation techniques for real-time and non real-time virtual heritage3D applications.

M5: Antiquity and Digital Technologies: How Old and New Fit Together

This module will give an overview of how digital technologies are used to impart knowledge about antiquity (languages, literature, art, archaeology, culture in general), illustrating with some best practice examples how such content is adapted for the new medium and what sorts of problems must be solved

M6: Expanding user experience through digital technologies

This module will give an overview of what kind of advanced applications are going to be developed in the field. The two main fields that will be covered are related to the social issues – accessibility for impaired users- and to the technological issues: augmented reality (immersive Virtual Reality).

M7: Cross design assignment

It deals with the design of a technological oriented solution for the cultural heritage. The professional who attend this module can design a solution for its own institution and the instructors will both, evaluate her/his work and give advices for the development of the solution.

CATCH will provide also a repository that will be built up with the best solutions devised by students in their assignments (M7). The repository will be helpful to keep the case study material of the course always updated, and will be used to present new case studies in further editions of CATCH.

Each module will be composed by:

  1. video presentation of the module, made by the instructor or by an expert of the field
  2. 2 or more guided interactive case studies (presentation by the experts, animation, activity)
  3. 2 or more guided best practices (expert interviews, animations, videos)
  4. corpus of theoretical concepts of the module  
  5. forum(s)
  6. assignment: case study
The whole course will be developed in English. Each partner can produce the modules it develops in its own language (German, Italian or French) and/or translate in its own language the modules it will use.
